I personally don’t..

Is the hype based on anything tangible? Or does he just have a name that sounds like a decent hockey player?

17 points in 17 games..
I know he's not 19 anymore, but I think he'll help... Also, we need all the defensive help we can get..

Apparently he is good and has skills that should translate into the NHL.

In theory people are excited about him.

He will be too good and will cost too much, therefore bad move by Dubas.

Grigerenko was there for the taking and he will be far worse and will cost less next season.

AAV for the win.

I don't have high expectations. Maybe he'll pleasantly surprise me, but players who make this kind of jump, at this point in their career, are usually not impact players.

You need to knock that chip off your shoulder, dear boy. It's quite unattractive.

At this point, my expectation is that he passes Marincin on the depth chart

Is your non-hype based on anything tangible?

I'm cautiously optimistic - I haven't seen much of his play beyond a few cherrypicked highlights - but his stats (17pts in 17gp) are pretty impressive for the KHL while playing during a very strange, pandemic-ified schedule - one in which he actually ended up contracting COVID-19.

Despite what people might say about Zaitsev, he's a regular NHL d-man... so why not Lehtonen?

He has the best shot on the blue line already...not that there are much competition but he is known to be able to shoot hard and on net.

Think Barrie except he keeps his eyes open while he shoots

I think the scouting report said he's got a bit shot and plays a decent 2 way game. Not a flashy skating puckhandler who gives it up behind like a regular jake gardiner.

Just what I heard.

Also he's Finnish

I think it's twofold.

1- He's dominating the KHL, so him being good at the NHL level is a decent bet, and 2- he's a Finn and Mussel loves all Finns.

bruh if we could get consultants and coaches from the Finnish hockey program to teach the Leafs how to play a wicked team first system, they'd be unstoppable.

In the meantime, we just need to load the Leafs up with as many Finns as possible.
